The 9th graders in Intro to Agriculture had the opportunity to tour the Parkview Nursery & Greenhouse in the beginning of October to learn about larger scale operations, check out their tree nursery, and look at their greenhouse spaces. Thank you to Dana for the wonderful tour!
Good luck to the 2023 Oral Interpretation Team! Their first competition will be the District 10B competition in Mobridge on November 6th!
Congratulations to the North Central Thunder Cross Country teams on outstanding performances at the Region 4A Meet in Chamberlain yesterday afternoon. The boys placed 2nd as a team and the girls placed 4th. With their 2nd place finish, the entire boys team will be moving on the the State A Cross Country Meet in Sioux Falls on October 21st. Individual place winners for the boys are as follows: Gabe Johnson (9th), Anthony Miller (14th), Avery Wells (15th), Drew Arbach (16th), Aaron Ingerson (26th), and Jason Arbach (30th). For the girls team, Melanie Dallenbach (17th) and Grace Roth (19th) advanced to the State Meet with Top 20 finishes. Additionally, Theo Haerter and Noah Ingerson place 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the boys JV race.
6th- 8th grade music students attended the Northwestern Middle School Festival on Tuesday! EC had students in both the band and choir, making music all day with Edmunds Central graduate, Jared Opp, and his wife and fellow music teacher, Katie Opp! They ended the day with an awesome concert!
EC FFA members attended their first contests, Land & Range Judging, on 9/27 in Webster. Grant F, Krist S, and Anthony M competed in Land Judging; while Cash A competed in Range Judging. Both teams represented well, Cash earned a bronze rating at the contest.
Congratulations to those who competed, we look forward to seeing more successes as contests continue into the fall!

Fourth Grade used sponges to paint their planets and first grade created planet Earth with baking soda and food colored vinegar!

Third grade used balloons to create amazing planets! This is probably one of the coolest projects we've done! We all loved it!

The 5th grade class enjoyed exploring X-Ray science in library this week. We looked at animal and reptile skeletons, as well as human X-rays, some that were healthy and some that showed us what broken bones look like.

The district is in search of substitute teachers for the current school year. The position pays $100 per day ($50 for a half-day). The rate of pay increases to $120 per day ($60 for a half-day) after working for eight (8) cumulative days. Certified substitute teachers earn an additional $20 per day.
