E.C. Senior Trip - Day 3 - The final leg of our itinerary took us back down to the mall area to check out a few more memorials. We took an evening walk seeing The Einstein Memorial, The Vietnam Memorial, The Korean War Memorial, The MLK Memorial, and finally the FDR Memorial. In addition to enjoying these gorgeous tributes, the night views of D.C. were incredible!

E.C. Senior Trip - Day 3 afternoon took us past the FBI building to the Holocaust Museum, something that we found so powerful that we had a hard time leaving. We had to tear ourselves from the survivor stories to continue on in our day.
Again, we know these kids enjoyed their day when they're not sure which part was their favorite.

E.C. Senior Trip - Day 3 started off at Ford's Theatre and The Petersen House with a history of the life of Abraham Lincoln. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to our park ranger and touring the museum after.
When we were done we ate the best pizza at a place just around the corner before heading into our afternoon itinerary. You know it's a good day when they can't decide which thing was their favorite!

E.C. Senior Trip - Day 2 - post 3/3: Arlington National Cemetery. The Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier & The Eternal Flame at the gravesite of JFK were our final stops for the day. We enjoyed this beautiful area and were absolutely mesmerized by The Changing of the Guard.
We are so impressed with all we've seen in the last two days and are looking forward to our day three sites!

E.C. Senior Trip - Day 2 - post 2/3: An amazing find and incredible addition to our trip, this memorial deserves a post to itself. The Pentagon Memorial was truly impactful. We stopped only because it was on our way to Arlington, but we met an Army Veteran who was very passionate about this place and was more than happy to spend some time sharing the details of this special place.
The 184 benches were designed to honor those who perished in the 9/11 Pentagon attack. Each bench has a name engraved in honor of those who died, some have additional names of family members that perished with them on the flight, and each bench faces a direction that tells if they were in the Pentagon or on the plane; sky behind the bench mean they were on the flight and Pentagon behind the bench means they were inside the building. What an incredible design detail! We learned this and so much more! This was such a well thought out memorial and we love that we were able to see it!

Day 2 - E.C. Senior Trip 1/3 - We explored more of D.C. today, starting off with bikes and scooters down to The Thomas Jefferson Memorial. The kids definitely enjoyed the speedy ride! Then we found our way over to The DEA museum, a highlight for all of them! We spent the rest of our morning learning about the history of drug enforcement. We had a fantastic morning in D.C.!

E.C. Senior Trip day one - Post 2/2:
It was such a gorgeous night in Washington, D.C. tonight for the seniors. After a great day of sites, we spent the evening enjoying a night tour of the beautiful memorials.
We had a great first day and can't wait to take on more of D.C. tomorrow!

E.C. Senior Trip day one - Post 1/2: We hit the skies bright and early this morning and spent a great day touring Washington, D.C. We spent our day on a walking tour of some of the monuments, checked out The White House Visitor's Center, and made a great stop at The Museum of Optical Illusions for a brain break before supper. These kids did an amazing job of trekking everywhere, putting on 10 miles from start to finish.

Post 2 of 2 ---> What a memorable Read Across America week at E.C.!! We had an amazing week celebrating books every single day and finished with a finale character party! Cupcakes, snacks, and book characters....what more can an elementary student ask for! ❤️📚 There's not one single student that won't remember the fun that books brought to them this week!

Post 1 of 2 ---> The grand finale to Read Across Week was spectacular!!! Horton brought all his character friends to our annual Dr. Seuss birthday party! It's become one of our favorite traditions at E.C. and this year was one of the best yet.....cupcakes and snacks from all the best Dr. Seuss books and some of the best library character friends to share in the fun!

In honor of Read Across America week, we are spending extra time reading with our favorite characters every day this week. Today, we had a blast 'rockin' in our school shoes with Pete the Cat.

It's Read Across America Week and in honor of Dr. Seuss, we at E.C. have been busy celebrating characters and books! On Monday, we enjoyed making truffula trees, listening to stories and enjoying snacks, and we've been having fun with daily dress-up themes.

Captain Underpants found his way to E.C. today to help continue our Read Across America Week celebration! Many of our elementary classes listened and enjoyed snacks while he read them a couple of his favorite books.
